September 23,2014

CINT is one of five DOE Nanoscale Research centers forming an integral part of the National Nanotechnology Initiative by the Office of Science, US Department of Energy. This advanced Nanoscale Research Laboratory is a 98,000 SF single story radial concept situated just outside Kirtland AFB in Albuquerque. Designed to house 148 scientists, it will be jointly operated by Sandia National Laboratories (SNL) and Los Alamos National laboratory (LANL).Three distinct laboratory wings (Class 1000 cleanroom, Chemistry/Molecular Biology Labs, Optical/Surface Analysis labs) are linked by a radial “Nano Loop” corridor and separated by two “oases”. The character of advanced science is anchored…

The Nicholas C. Metropolis Center (formally known as the Strategic Computing Complex or SCC) project is a 290,000 SF three story advanced computing facility in the center of Los Alamos National Laboratory?s primary campus, Technical Area Three (TA3). Its mission is to support the Accelerated Strategic Computing Initiative (ASCI) between three National Laboratories: Los Alamos and Sandia, both in New Mexico, and Lawrence Livermore in California. The ASCI program focuses on nuclear safeguards, weapons system certifications and stockpile life extensions.Central to the design is a 43,500 SF mainframe computer room with 160ft clear span trusses. In addition there are 300…
