Description

The Beckman Institute at Cal Tech is a 150,000 SF multi-disciplinary research laboratory and office building. Spaces are shared by the departments of Chemistry and Biology. Laboratories include organic and inorganic chemistry, x-ray diffraction, mass spectroscopy, NMR, bio-chemistry, DNA synthesis and sequencing, lasers and optics. Specialty laboratories include an insectary for grasshopper research. The National Science Foundation Center for Biotechnology was an original occupant. The Arnold Beckman Museum is located on the first floor. The project was delivered in 22 months through Construction Manager at Risk methodology for $32 million.
