The NISC project is a 165,000 SF five story mixed use radiological/electronic/optical laboratories with offices for the NIS Division at LANL. Its mission is to focus on detection research, intelligence, nuclear safeguards and emergency response worldwide. There will be 465 occupants from the NIS Division in program, group and division offices. Levels 3 and 4 feature extreme security precautions for intelligence and are a Secure Compartmental Information Facility (SCIF). In the basement level are Category III Special Nuclear Material (SMN) vaults as well as instrumentation development and training laboratories.
